In what is being termed as a big jolt to the poll prospects of the Congress party, a former local unit president of Congress party Satish Dhaundiyal along with two ward members and more than two dozen members from the minority community joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before the crucial state assembly elections as primary workers, at a small ceremony held at a hotel\u00a0on Saturday\u00a0morning in Mussoorie.<\/p>\n
Satish Dhaundiyal served the Congress party since 1985 as NSUI College president \u00a0then as Youth Congress president and later worked as president of Congress unit of Mussoorie for six years.<\/p>\n
He said that able leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the country and of Pushkar Singh Dhami in the state along with the pro-people works done by Mussoorie MLA Ganesh Joshi of BJP was the main reason for him to join the BJP. The youth of the town and the state are dejected with Congress and more people are ready to join BJP in near future, he added.<\/p>\n
Two municipal board ward members Yashoda Sharma and former Mahila Congress president Geeta Kumain also joined the BJP \u00a0here. The highlight of the event was more than two dozen members from the minority community joining BJP along with several others.<\/p>\n
Mohammad Shahid Mansoor, the president of Mussoorie minority cell of BJP said, \u201cMore than 20 minority youth, women and elderly have joined the party and are attracted towards the policy of the party. The support of MLA Mussoorie Ganesh Joshi to the people from his community is one of the reasons that the members from minority communities are joining the party in large numbers,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the occasion, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi said that the party and his poll prospects have received a boost with this joining of people from cross section of the society and it will help in increasing the margin of victory in the coming assembly election.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
