Indian, Nepalese officials hold joint inspection of protection wall along river Kali<\/p>\n

Senior district level officers of Darchula district of Nepal, have assured their Indian counterparts of Pithoragarh district iof Uttarakhand that they will sent police security on getting any information about miscreants from Nepal \u00a0throwing stones on Indian workers involved in the construction of protection wall along river Kali on the Indian side. River kali forms the border between India and Nepal in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand.<\/p>\n
“The Nepalese officers have expressed their surprise on the December 19 incident\u00a0 of stone throwing on Indian workers from Nepal side and said that they had immediately sent the police security to disburse the mob indulging in stone throwing on Indian workers from across the river,” said Reena Joshi, Pithoragarh District Magistrate.<\/p>\n
According to DM, Nepalese officers along with Dharchula SDM, took a joint inspection of the site a day before and shared concerns of their respective countries with each other.<\/p>\n
” After Dharchula SDM Divesh Sashni expressed concern before Nepalese officers that removal of debris on the Nepalese side has been a hindrance in the smooth construction of the protection wall on the Indian side aimed at protecting Dharchula town from floods , the Nepalese officers assured \u00a0to cooperate with Indian officers ,” said Pithoragarh DM.<\/p>\n
The joint inspection team from Nepal was represented by Darchula Assistant Chief District Officer Hemantu Saud, DSP Darchula Mahesh Awasthi, while the Indian side was represented by Dharchula SDM Divesh Shashni and Irrigation executive engineer Farhan Ahmed.<\/p>\n
The joint Inspection team has also agreed that a joint team of engineers from both the countries will be formed to find out the changing course f river Kali every year, so that accurate places could be found to check the flow of river on both the sides. “We have instructed our executive engineer to form the team with immediately,” said Divesh Shashni, SDM of Dharchula.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the resident of Indian town of Dharchula have handed over a memorandum to the administration demanding to resume work of construction of protection wall on the Indian side before December 27, this year.” We will be compelled to start an agitation if the work of construction of protection wall at Ghatdhar does not be start immediately as it is the most sensitive points from landslide points of view of Dharchula town,” said Mahendra Singh Budiyal, district vice chief of ruling Bhartiya janata Party (BJP) in Pithoragarh.<\/p>\n
According to people of Dharchula, there is no instance of stone throwing from Nepal before November 25, 2022. The incidents occurred only after Viplav faction of Nepalese Maoists got active after lifting of ban on them .”From November 25 to December 19, this year the alleged activists of Viplav faction have thrown stones on Indian workers at least 10 times,” said Narayan Singh Gandi, a retired captain of Indian army based at Dharchula.<\/p>\n
