More than 70 disaster affected families, living in camps in Dharchula stadium, will not get free meal from next week as the district administration has decided to stop the meals due to fund crunch, as per administrative authorities in Dharchula. These families from Aildhara, Matkhanna, and khotila localities of Dharchula sub-division of Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhandhad lost their homes due to landslides during the monsoon season last year.<\/p>\n
“We are feeding the disaster affected from last 8 months, despite the disaster funds allows us to feed them only for 2 months.”said Divesh Shashni, SDM, Dharchula.According to administration sources, a sum of Rs.25 lakh has already been spent to feed the disaster affected families in last 8 months.<\/p>\n
According to the SDM, the administration has offered work for each disaster affected family on rs.550 per day basis to run their livlihood, but none of the affected family members took that offer.”we are providing LPG connection to each family, after each family will be provided LPG connection, the free meals will be refused.” said the SDM.<\/p>\n
According to the SDM, out of 30 disaster affected families living in camp, compensation for houses has been distributed to 15 families while files is being made\u00a0 ready for remaining 15 families.” The affected families are being given land for house construction at Bagicha ward of Dharchula,the land will start allocating after geologists report.” According to the SDM Formerly the admiNistration has allowed then land in Kanalichina block, of the district, where the families refused to go, after that land for house construction has been allocated at Bagicha ward of Dharchula.<\/p>\n
The government is providing a sum of \u20b9 4.25 lakh to each disaster affected families for construction of house.<\/p>\n
The disaster affected families living in camp are from Aildhara, Matkhanna, and khotila localities of Dharchula sub division where landslides in monsoon months last year forced them to live in camps.<\/p>\n
