It would be possible to view the sacred Kailash peak from Indian territory after September this year after the road cutting work up to the Lipulekh pass from huts of Kumoan Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) being under taken by Border Roads Organisation (BRO) gets completed.<\/p>\n
“We have started cutting of\u00a0 6.5 km long road up to Lepulekh pass from KMVN huts at Nabhidhang. The Kailash view point lies on this road and after the road gets completed, the view point will be ready for pilgrims,” said Vimal Goswami, Chief Engineer of project \u2018Hirak\u2019 of BRO, that has been assigned to develop the Kailash view point by the Government of India.<\/p>\n
According to Goswami, a sizable portion of the road has already been cut to the view point and if the weather remains congenial, rest of the portion could be completed by September this year.” After the road gets cut, further stages will be completed to give a final shape to the Kailash viewpoint ,” said Goswami.<\/p>\n
The Kailash Mansarowar yatra, which resumed in the year 1981 after\u00a0the Indo-China war of 1962 has again stopped following Covid pandemic as no Indian Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims have been allowed by China from Lipulekh pass since \u00a02019.<\/p>\n
PWD superintendent engineer in Pithoragarh, AB Kandpal, said that they have also faced the challenge of constructing view point\u00a0 for Kailash at Lipulekh pass as their department had also developed a track to the 1800 meters high hill\u00a0 in the year 2016, but that could not be maintained.” The view point will need continuous maintenance as the hill remains under 4 feet of snow during 8 months in a year,” said the PWD engineer.<\/p>\n
Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) , the nodal agency , that has been assigned the work of running Kailash Mansarowar yatra since it resumed in 1981, has recently sent a team of experts to the Kailash view point at Lipulekh pass to find out possibility of developing Kailash view point.” Presently, the proposal to take pilgrims to this view point lies with Government and if government gets us approval for that the essential infrastructure will be made there,” said AP Bajpayee, general manager of KMVN.<\/p>\n
