Pithoragarh, Oct 12<\/p>\n

Prior to Prime Minister Modi\u2019s visit to Pithoragarh, Congress workers today held a demonstration\u00a0and took out a procession from Siltham to Station, where they were stopped by security personnel after a minor scuffle .<\/p>\n

“Over 100 Congress workers including eight women leaders took part in this procession.\u00a0We want to draw attention of the Prime Minister towards problems of district including, resuming of civil air services from Naini- Saini airport , opening of base hospital with all specialised facilities, construction of medical college and strict punishment to Ankita Bhandari killers, ” said Mahendra Lunthi, a senior Congress leader who led the procession. The Congress workers sat on a dharna in protest against the detention of their state Mahila Congress president by the police.<\/p>\n

Earlier, \u00a0Jyoti Rautela, state president of Mahila Congress along with Pithoragarh District Mahila Congress president Bhawana Naharkoti were detained by police early\u00a0morning .” They have been sent to unknown place by the police after taking them into custody,” charged Mahendra Lunthi.<\/p>\n
