Pithoragarh, Jan 15<\/p>\n

Rung language, the language of Rung tribals, residing in Darma, Vyans and Chaudans valleys of Dharchula sub-division of Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, will be available for common readers who understands \u2018Devnagari\u2019 script, as the script of language is being prepared in \u2018Devnagari\u2019, said Krishna Garbiyal, president of \u2018Nandan Nyas\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018Nandan Nyas\u2019, is a trust formed by Rung community with the finances donated by late Nandram Lala of Nepal to develop the script of Rung dialect.”The work of developing Rung script in Devnagari is in progress and soon people other than Rung community members would also be able to learn the language and know the history culture and social customs of Rung community,” said Krishna Garbiyal.<\/p>\n

Two days ‘Rung Lo Jya’,(Rung language day) was celebrated at Rung Kalyan Sanstha in Dharchula by Rung community under chairmanship of Nrip Singh Napalchayal, former Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand and patron of Rung Kalyan Sanstha.<\/p>\n

Napalchyal said that from next year, Rung Language Day will be celebrated on January 10, at every branch of Rung Kalyan Sanstha. “We have expressed our concerned before society youths on gradually depleting rung folk lores, rung stories and rung proverbs, on which the language lives in its high vibrancy,” said Napalchyal.<\/p>\n

The elders of Rung community also expressed their concern over closure of Indo- China border trade from Taklakot Mart.<\/p>\n

“The two days conference of Rung\u00a0 Kalyan Sanstha, witnessed discussion on Rung literature, new books and\u00a0Rung literature being written in Nepal, a new book, on BSF, written by retired BSF DIG, KS Gunjiyal, was released on the occasion,” said Shalu Datal, a member of Rung community and journalist based in Dharchula.<\/p>\n
