The uproar following a case of elopement of two minor girls from Dharchula town of Pithoragarh district with two youth from Bareilly town of Uttar Pradesh and their recovery has forced the Pithoragarh district to restart police verification of all outsiders living or working the district, according to Lokeswar Singh, Superintendent of Police (SP).<\/p>\n
The police chief said that peace has returned to Dharchula town following the recovery of missing girls and arrest of a youth who enticed them to run away from home on the pretext of marrying them. Tension prevailed in the border town following the missing report lodged by the parents of the minor girls as people held demonstration seeking early recovery of the missing girls.”The people who were on streets demanding recovery of minor girls and arrests of culprits, is now peaceful,” said the SP.<\/p>\n
“The decision to verify outsiders was taken after an incident in Dharchula town last week in which two minor girls were lured by two residents of Bareilly on pretext to marry them,” said the SP.<\/p>\n
The parents of the minor girls lodged a complaint with the police on February 1 regarding their disappearance. “The police acted swiftly and recovered both the girls from Bareilly, one of the accused has also been arrested,” said the SP.\u00a0A case has been lodged under IPC section 363, 376 and POCSO act in this regard. .<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Dharchula Traders Union, Dharchula Vyapar Sangh, has cancelled all membership registrations until all outside traders doing business in Dharchula are reverified by police.” We have cancelled membership of all 630 traders registered with Vyapar Sangh, Dharchula. The new registrations of traders will be done only after proper verification of traders by the police,” said Bhupendra Singh Thapa, president of Dharchula Vyapar Sangh.<\/p>\n
Only those traders who are doing trade in Dharchula after the year 2000, will be registered.” Even If labourers are required for construction works, the contractors will be given temporary permission to take labourers from outside on their responsibility about their conduct and any criminal record of any labourer,\u201d said Thapa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
