Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari laid foundation of seven highway\u00a0 projects worth Rs 2217crore in Tanakpur town of Champawat district, today.<\/p>\n
Addressing a public meeting at Gandhi maidan today, the Union Minister declared that by the end of\u00a0 2024, Uttarakhand will be included in the list of states that have world class roads.<\/p>\n
Gadkari declared that the venerated \u2018Gorakhnath Dham\u2019, situated in Tamil region of Champawat district will be connected to main roads by the way of ropeway. “A total of 60 ropeways will be constructed in Uttrakhand at a cost of Rs 16500 crore,” he announced.<\/p>\n
The Union Minister said that at present a total of Rs 1.40 lakh crore worth road projects are running in the Uttrakhand, that would \u00a0be raised upto Rs 2 lakh worth by end of this year.<\/p>\n
Nitin Gadkari said that if all land clearance for all the proposed roads in the state could be cleared in time an additional amount of Rs 10000 crore will also be granted to the state. ” We have also decided to sanction an additional amount of Rs 300 crore to the grants for roads to state this year,” said Gadkari.<\/p>\n
The public meeting was also addressed by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Almora MP Ajay Tamta, and Union Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt.<\/p>\n
The Union Minister said that\u00a0 with the help of subject specialists from various technical institutes, the landslide rate during and after road construction in Uttarakhand will be minimised.<\/p>\n
Addressing the meeting, Union Minister of State for Defence, Ajay Bhatt said that in the last 10 years, the nation has transformed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. ” The border regions of Uttarakhand state have better road connectivity in last 10 years,” said Bhatt.<\/p>\n
