The construction the \u2018Shiva Dham\u2019 at Gunji (10500 feet) at Indo-China border in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand is likely to start after parliament election this year, said Kriti Chandra Arya\u00a0,District Tourist Officer of Pithoragarh.<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sanctioned a sum of Rs 3220.61 lakh under \u2018Swadesh Darshan\u2019 scheme, a day before, to develop the border village of Gunji as \u2018Shiva Dham\u2019.<\/p>\n
The \u2018Shiv Dham\u2019 infrastructure at Gunji will further enhance religious tourists to \u2018Adi Kailash\u2019, \u2018Om Parvat\u2019 and \u2018Parwati Sarowar\u2019, which are situated around Gunji village.<\/p>\n
” The proposed construction of \u2018Shiva Dham\u2019 at Gunji include a mega statue of Lord Shiva, modern housing facilities to be used as residential area for\u00a0 the religious tourists, souvenir shops of local crafts goods and a\u00a0 cultural center to promote tribal culture,\u201d said the officer.<\/p>\n
The \u2018Shiva Dham\u2019 project at Gunji, the\u00a0 center of \u2018Adi Kailash\u2019 and \u2018Kailash Mansarovar\u2019 route, could become possible after it was sanctioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who visited \u2018Adi Kailash Dham\u2019 of Lord Shiva in October last year.”Though the \u2018Adi Kailash yatra\u2019 was being managed from last 40 years, it gained significance when \u2018Kailash Mansarovar yatra\u2019 was not permitted by China after the year 2019 from this route.” Though \u2018Adi Kailash\u2019 cannot become an alternative of \u2018Kailash Mansarowar\u2019 but it has potential to be as another \u2018Shiv Dham\u2019 in Himalaya for lakhs of devotees of Lord Shiva, ” said the DTO.<\/p>\n
According to tourism department sources, the inquiries for \u2018Adi Kailash\u2019 have increased three times after the Prime Minister’s visit in October last year.”The real number of pilgrims to Adi kailash could be known only after April 15 this year, when the bookings for the religious place gets started,” said the officer.<\/p>\n
However, the local villagers have objected to the take over of a 20 acres of land by tourist department for the purpose of construction of \u2018Shiv Dham\u2019 at Gunji. The villagers in a representation to the administration claimed that all the five villages of Vyans valley namely Gunji, Nabi, Rongkong, Kuti and Napalchu, organise a horse race in the ground after worshiping the Vyans Rishi every year. They pleaded that the administration should built \u2018Shiv Dham\u2019 on any alternate land and spare the traditional ground used for traditional horse race at Gunji.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
