In a representation addressed to Uttarakhand Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh (retd) through Pithoragarh District Magistrate Reena Joshi, District Secretary of CPI (ML) Govind Kaflia has sought his intervention in attempts to force some shopkeepers from Dharchula town of Pithoragarh district terming them as \u2018outsiders\u2019 by Vyapar Mandal of the town. District Secretary of CPI (ML) Govind Kaflia,Hemant Khati and Bhagwan Rawat of Pithoragarh Jan Manch presented the representation to Pithoragarh District Magistrate Reena Joshi, at Pithoragarh today<\/p>\n
The representation said that the campaign by the Vyapar Mandal which has been going on for past sometime in Dharchula town is not only communal in nature but against the basic tenets of Constitution of the country.<\/p>\n
The CPI (ML) said that Vyapar Mandal of Dharchula has stopped certain shopkeepers from opening their business for the past three days terming them as \u2018outsiders\u2019 and their registration with the Vyapar mandal has been cancelled. The representation stated that the forces indulging in the poisonous politics of communal polarisation has been behind all these campaigns.<\/p>\n
It further stated that the Constitution of the country allows each and every citizen to work and reside anywhere in the country and any law breaker would be dealt with due process of law. The representation said that the police and law had already taken action in the case on which this campaign is being run.<\/p>\n
Govind Kaflia said that despite action by the police, the ongoing campaign against innocent people point towards the sinister designs of such communal forces. He further regretted that such a campign has been going on in the border town for past sometime but the police and local administration has remained a mute spectator all this while.<\/p>\n
He said that inaction of the administration in the case despite the imposition of model code of conduct for Lok Sabha elections is intriguing and serious. The CPI (ML) along with Bhagwan Rawat of Pithoragarh Jan Manch appealed to the Governor to personally intervene in the matter and direct the district administration to stop the harassment of shopkeepers in the name of being \u2018outsiders\u2019 and provide them adequate security.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
