Nepal officials assure cooperation in peaceful conduct of Lok Sabha polls<\/p>\n

Nepalese administration in the two border districts of Baitari and Darchula will fully co-operate with their Indian counterparts in conducting parliamentary elections in the bordering Almora parliamentary constituency of India. This assurance was given by \u00a0Kiran Joshi, Chief District Officer (CDO) of Darchula,(Nepal) after a meeting of\u00a0 border coordination committee of Indo-Nepal border along this part of the border.<\/p>\n
“We have also discussed issues of mutual concern in this meeting today. We have assured Indian officers from Pithoragarh and Champawat to co-operate fully in all these issues of mutual concern,” said Kiran Joshi, CDO, Darchula. The meeting was held under joint chairmanship of Pithoragarh District Magistrate Reena Joshi and Darchula CDO Kiran Joshi.<\/p>\n
Pithoragarh District Magistrate Reena Joshi after the meeting said that the issues of drug smuggling across the border, human trafficking, illegal transportation through river Kali, problem of land slide in river Kali at Darchula town and smuggling of illicit liquor by tyre tubes across Kali river, which forms the border between the twpo countries, were also discussed in the meeting.<\/p>\n
“We have also raised with Nepalese officers the issue of providing required documents to those Nepalese girls who have been married off in India so that they could get voters rights in one country only,” said Reena Joshi, Pithoragarh District Magistrate.<\/p>\n
“We have also sought cooperation from Nepalese officers in managing border \u00a0during polling day on April 19, as the Indo Nepal border will be closed 72 hours prior to the polling day, \u00a0“said Reena Joshi.<\/p>\n
Besides Pithoragarh District Magistrate, the District Magistrate of Champawat Navnit Pandey, Chief Development Officers (CDOs) of Neplaese border districts of \u00a0Darchula and Baitari, top police, forest , irrigation and revenue officers from both the countries were present in the meeting.<\/p>\n
Champawat DM Navnit Pandey sought Nepal’s cooperation in removing pollutants deposited at Banbasa Dam.<\/p>\n
