{"id":4615,"date":"2024-03-22T15:27:54","date_gmt":"2024-03-22T09:57:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thenortherngazette.com\/?p=4615"},"modified":"2024-03-22T15:27:54","modified_gmt":"2024-03-22T09:57:54","slug":"polling-booths-in-high-altitude-area-of-uttarakhand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenortherngazette.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/22\/polling-booths-in-high-altitude-area-of-uttarakhand\/","title":{"rendered":"Polling booths in high altitude area of Uttarakhand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Polling booths in high altitude area of Uttarakhand<\/p>\n<p>B.D.Kasniyal<\/p>\n<p>Pithoragarh, March 22<\/p>\n<p>polling parties\u00a0conducting the polls for the forthcoming general elections on April 19 in the hill districts of Uttarakhand will not only have to climb heights up to 10170 feet to reach assigned polling booths, but also have to travel on foot up to a maximum distance of 20 km after travelling by road \u00a0for \u00a0250 km from district headquarters at some polling booths, according to Election Commissions office sources.<\/p>\n<p>According to information, the highest polling station in the state is of Puri polling booth of Gangotri assembly constituency in Uttarakashi district that is situated at 10170 feet .Puri is followed by Kalgoth polling booth in Badrinath assembly segment at 1000 feet height, Triyugi Narayan polling booth in Kedarnath assembly constituency at 7604 feet, Thanadhar polling booth in Tehri at 8500 feet, Bona polling in Dharchula assembly constituency in Pithoragarh district at 8202 feet \u00a0and Kemu in Kapkot assembly at 7840 feet of elevation, as per the website of the Election Commission.<\/p>\n<p>According to Uttarakhand election commission website the polling booths that are situated at more than 7500 feet high are Kemu polling booth in Kapkot assembly segment of Bageshwar district at 7840 feet, Dani in Someshwar assembly\u00a0at 7000 feet, Landhaur in Mussoorie assembly seats at 6440 feet and Tarikhet in Bhimtal assembly seats at 7500 feet.<\/p>\n<p>Besides these high altitude polling booths, there are several polling booths where the polling parties will have to travel long distances by road and then on foot to reach in the hills.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To reach the polling booth at Dumak in Badrinath assembly constituency, the polling parties will have to travel 20 km on foot from road, while to reach Kanar polling booth in Dharchula assembly constituency in Pithoragarh district, the polling parties will have to travel on foot for 18 km after travelling 80 km by road from district headquarter.<\/p>\n<p>Most distant polling booth from district headquarter is Dangutha polling booth in Chakrata assembly constituency which is situated at 260 km distance from district headquarter.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Polling booths in high altitude area of Uttarakhand B.D.Kasniyal Pithoragarh, March 22 polling parties\u00a0conducting the polls for the forthcoming general elections on April 19 in the hill districts of Uttarakhand will not only have to climb heights up to 10170 feet to reach assigned polling booths, but also have to travel on foot up to &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":4616,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[92,1284,91,56,59],"tags":[1964,1966,1965],"class_list":["post-4615","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-featured","category-international-political-national","category-national","category-politics","category-uttarakhand","tag-general-elections-2024","tag-high-altitude-polling-booths","tag-uttarakhand-lok-sabha-polls"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
