The polling party for\u00a0the second most remote polling booth which would be reached on foot in Uttarakhand state, namely Government Inter College(GIC), Kanar has left\u00a0 today. The party left from control room\u00a0functioning from Government PG college, Pithoragarh.<\/p>\n
The first most remote polling booth which would be reached on foot in the state is\u00a0 located at Dumak under Badrinath assembly constituency. The polling party has to travel a distance of 20 km on foot after travelling 55 km on vehicle from the headquarter. The polling for parliament in all five seats in the state is scheduled to be held on April 19 in the first phase of general elections in the country.<\/p>\n
“The polling party, will cover 80 km long distance from district headquarter in a vehicle and 18 km on foot to reach the polling booth at GIC, Kanar in Bangapani sub- division of Dharchula assembly constituency of Almora parliamentary constituency,” said Reena Joshi, District Election Officer.<\/p>\n
The Kanar polling booth (Booth No 101) has\u00a0a total of 557 voters including\u00a0312 male and 275 female voters.” All arrangements of lodging and boarding of polling party at Kanar have been completed,” said the DEO.<\/p>\n
According to Uttarakhand election office sources, most distant polling booth in the state is at Dangutha, under Chakrata assembly constituency, which is at 250 km distance from headquarter.<\/p>\n
From elevation points of view,\u00a0there are 12 polling booths above 1700 meter high altitude in the state, the highest polling booth has been made at Sinchai Bhawan, Gangotri polling booth which is at 10170 feet high. The polling booth at Thanadhar (Saur) in Tehri assembly is second highest at\u00a0 8500 feet while the polling booth\u00a0 made at Bona under Dharchula assembly constituency is third highest at 8202 feet height.<\/p>\n
