Dr. V. K. Saraswat, a member of the Niti Ayog and Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University has predicted that India would become the Hydrogen hub of the world in the coming years globally. He said that cutting the cost would helpful in hydrogen production. Dr. V. K. Saraswat, india\u2019s top most scientist was addressing an international conference at Graphic Era Deemed University,here today.<\/p>\n
He said that many changes can be seen in the environment due to global warming but by adopting sustainable energy strategies would be the best option for tackling environmental issues. \u201cThis will ensure that energy demands are fulfilled without any threat to the environment and the goal of sustainable development is to provide clean and affordable energy to all,\u201d he said .<\/p>\n
Dr. Saraswat said that even after being the most populated country in the world, India still produces 40% less carbon dioxide as compared to the developed nations. He said that Hydrogen, Methanol and Coal are rich sources of energy and hydrogen which is the cleanest fuel can be used to tackle emission problems. Green hydrogen is produced by using fossil fuels while blue hydrogen is produced with the help of natural gases. He said that methanol can be stored in the form of liquid. It has low carbon intensity and 40% of methanol is used for energy production. Dr. Saraswat said that India is world\u2019s 5th biggest country with huge coal resources. By researching in the area of clean coal technologies, it can be used for various advantages.<\/p>\n
Dr. Saraswat also shed light on technological strategies for clean energy. He said that investing in development of carbon products, energy production using methanol, ethanol and ammonia, natural gases, nuclear power and sustainable mobility will be very important in the production of clean energy. This would help in increasing the quality of life, education, health, urbanisation, public policies and social system.<\/p>\n
The conference was organised by Department of Electrical Engineering and Department of Mechanical Engineering in collaboration with Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.\u00a0 Dean International Affairs Dr. D. R. Gangodkar, Dean Life Sciences Prof. Priti Krishna, HOD of Electrical Engineering Dr. Mohd.
