The school students of Tejam village of Dharchula sub-division who were unable to go to their schools for the past fortnight had a sigh of relief when they went to school again after 15 days today after construction of a wooden bridge over Tejam rivulet by the Puiblic Works department (PWD).<\/p>\n
“A total of 22 students of Tejam village, who study in Tawaghat town schools, were unable to reach their school after the bridge\u00a0 on the rivulet washed away following \u00a0heavy rains of July 5, this year. The PWD has now constructed a temporary bridge for monsoon months. We hope the school children will now be able to continue their education even in monsoon months,” said Harendra Singh, a social worker of\u00a0 Tejam village.<\/p>\n
PWD junior engineer Virendra Kumar Arya said that the bridge was ready but the work of making railing on both the sides of bridge took some time.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, more than 15 village roads were closed and transportation to over 30 village roads was disrupted after heavy rains in Munsiyari region since last evening.<\/p>\n
“Munsiyari town is facing shortage of essential goods as over 12 vehicles carrying LPG cylinders and vegetables are trapped at Vanik on Thal to Munsiyari road after shooting of boulders started there following heavy rains,” said Puran Pandey, a resident of Munsiyari town.<\/p>\n
According to District Disaster Management Office (DDMO) officials, a total of 32 motor roads including the border roads, from Dhapa to Milan in Munsiyari and Pithoragarh to Tawaghat in Dharchula, were closed for regular traffic due to landslides.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
