He further said that \u2018Gaushalas\u2019 are being presented as a solution to deal with the increasing number of stray cows, bulls, calves but the in these past yen years hundreds of cows were found dying in \u2018Gaushalas\u2019 due to lack of care in BJP ruled states like Rajasthan and \u00a0Madhya Pradesh.<\/p>\n
He said that case of cows dying due to lack of proper care was also reported in the government Kanji House of Dehradun, the capital city of Uttarakhand. He said that cows are being sent to \u2018Gaushalas\u2019 only to provide the \u2018Gaushala\u2019 operators the benefit of government grants as \u00a0most of the \u2018Gaushala\u2019 operators are associated with the ruling BJP or its affiliated organizations. He alleged that the \u00a0BJP is using the plight of cows to benefit its own people and to cheat the common cattle keepers. He demanded a \u00a0permanent solution to the problem by abolishing the Cow Protection Act and guarantee purchase of cows.<\/p>\n
CPIML District Secretary Dr Kailash Pandey said that the BJP government has been disrespecting \u00a0cow in the name of it\u2019s protection and the goons carrying out mob lynching in the name of cows are being called \u2018Gau Rakshaks\u2019. \u201cThey do not protect cows but are attacking human life in the name of cow and such goons roaming masquandring as \u2018Gau Rakshaks\u2019 should be strictly controlled,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
State Vice President of Kisan Mahasabha Bahadur Singh Jangi said that, Kisan Maha Sabha clearly believes that stray cattle is not a calamity caused by cattle keepers, it is a calamity caused by the government in favor of big capitalists. After the ‘Hand over stray cattle to the government’ program, a 7-point demand letter was sent to the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand through the sub-district magistrate Lalkuan.<\/p>\n
The memorandum demanded that the Cow Protection Act should be repealed as soon as possible by taking a decision in favor of cattle owners, farmers and the general public ortherwise \u00a0government should purchase these animals by fixing a government price according to the condition of the cattle (landi, bakhdi, bailey cow, heifer-calf, bull, ox). Compensation of ten lakh rupees to the injured in attacks or accidents by cows and at least 50 lakhs rupees to the families of the deceased should be announced. The memorandum, demanded\u00a0 adequate compensation to the farmers for the destruction of standing crops in the fields due to stray cows and bulls. The tehsil administration should make arrangements for stray cattle elsewhere as soon as possible while providing relief to the local people troubled by the terror of stray cattle and the continuous loss of life and property in the Lalkuan tehsil area.The administration should take cognizance of the mismanagement of \u2018Gaushalas\u2019. The Kisan Mahasabha also opposed any action against cattle keepers who are forced to abandon their animals.
