Facing flak following lack of medical facilities for Marchula road accident victims at Ramnagar hospital, while, Uttarakhand Health Minister has announced to terminate the contract of nine hospitals given on Private-Public Partnership (PPP) mode under Uttarakhand Health System Development project and take back control of such hospitals in the state, \u00a0Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta has announced cashless treatment scheme in cases of trauma cases following motor accidents on National Highways.<\/p>\n
Tamta said that cashless treatment scheme will soon be implemented in Uttarakhand state to avail quick treatment of accident victims in empanelled hospitals.Under the scheme, accident victims on highways could receive a cashless treatment of up to Rs 1.5 lakh\u00a0 in empanelled hospitals, within 7 days under \u2018Ayushman Bharat Pradhanmantri Jan Arogya\u2019 scheme.<\/p>\n
Tamta, who reached Pithoragarh on his brief visit today, was talking to this correspondent\u00a0on recent motor accident, that occured at Marchula region of Almora on November 4th, killing 36 passengers and injuring 24.<\/p>\n
“The scheme launched in August this year and running in Chandigarh and Assam as a pilot project presently, will be launched all over the country soon, on state highways like National highways and for that\u00a0our ministry has sent guidelines to the states,” said the union minister.<\/p>\n
The union minister termed the Marchula accident as ‘negligence’ as the bus was overloaded. “Our ministry has also taken several measures to check the highway accidents, we are soon launching schemes to make passengers aware on the situation of overloaded buses or other vehicles and also making it compulsory for private vehicles to follow strictly expiry vehicle guidelines like that in government vehicles, “said Tamta.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Uttarakhand Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh rawat announced that the state government has taken a decision to take back all nine hospital given on PPP mode in the state.<\/p>\n
