Almora district administration has identified more than \u00a023 outsiders who have purchased lands in the district more than the stipulated limit of 250 square meters but did not utilised the land for the purpose for which the land was purchased.<\/p>\n
“Out of these outsiders, we have sent notices to eight persons and taken back\u00a0the possession of land from two such persons. This action has been done on the instructions of state government,” said Aalok Kumar Pandey, District Magistrate,\u00a0 Almora. The administration has taken actionin some cases while some other cases are pending in the courts.<\/p>\n
According the DM, under the existing law if someone purchased more than\u00a0250 square meters of land for specific purposes but did not utilise the land for the said purpose within the stipulated time limit.<\/p>\n
“All these\u00a0outsiders against whom action has been taken have not utilised the land for the purpose they have purchased,” said the DM<\/p>\n
Asked if bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee is also amongst those who have violated the land purchase rules, the DM said he might\u00a0 be included in the list.<\/p>\n
The identification of land purchased by outsiders in Almora began\u00a0last month after the Uttarakhand Chief Minister ordered district administrations to do so.<\/p>\n
