Successful treatment of rare case with laparoscopy at Graphic Era Hospital<\/p>\n

Specialists at Graphic Era Hospital has successfully treated a posterior gastric wall perforation using Laparoscopic surgery.a 28 years old male patient was admitted to Graphic Era Hospital after complaints of abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. After CT scan, a 1 centimetre perforation was found in the patient’s stomach. The patient’s condition was critical. A team of specialists at Graphic Era Hospital treated the patient’s perforation using laparoscopic surgery. The surgery was performed under the supervision of HoD of General Surgery Department Dr. A. K. Malhotra. Other doctors in this team include Dr. Vinamra Mittal, Dr. Ankita Jain, Dr. Aman Kamra and Dr. A. K. Sharma. This team also includes Ashok and Aakash from operation theatre surgical staff. This is the first of its kind case in Uttarakhand to be treated under \u2018Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna\u2019.<\/p>\n
Dr. A. K. Malhotra said that posterior gastric wall perforation is a rare condition. Till now less than 30 cases have been reported worldwide. This condition causes perforation in stomach, big and small intestine. In this case, the patient was suffering from stomach perforation along with retroperitoneal air and fluid collection. He further explained that earlier open surgery was the only treatment available for perforation. The experts using the latest technologies available at Graphic Era Hospital treated the patient using minimally invasive laproscopy. During the procedure, the perforation was repaired using Graham patch and retroperitoneal lavage was used. After surgery, the patient is recovering fast.<\/p>\n
