Another political satirical song criticising the present BJP government led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has created a controversy in Uttarakhand. The singer Pawan Semwal who sang the song and posted it on social media platforms was booked by the Uttarakhand police.<\/p>\n
Pawan Semwal, a Garhwali singer in his song criticising the present Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami asked him to quit as he failed to govern the state. Through his song, he alleged that women are unsafe and there is misgovernance.<\/p>\n
Interestingly, Uttarakhand police booked Pawan Semwal on a complaint by a woman who claimed that the song has undermined the dignity of women of Uttarakhand. The complaint was lodged at Patel Naagar police station in Dehradun. A case under section 196\/353 [1] [B]\/79 of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered against the singer.<\/p>\n
The singer was called to the Kalyanpuri police station in New Delhi and brought to Dehradun for interrogation. As per a press release of Uttarakhand police, he was given a notice under section 35[A] BNSS with instructions to join the probe. He was later let off.<\/p>\n
Uttarakhand state is w known for political satirical songs with the top Garhwali folk singer Narendra Singh Negi starting the trend by coming up with \u2018Nauchami Narayan\u2019, an album of satirical songs on the working of first elected Congress Chief Minister of Uttarakhand N.D.Tewari.<\/p>\n
He again come with a new audio Garhwali album \u201c Ab Kathga Khalyuo\u201d ( How much you will eat) having eight songs hitting out at the then then BJP led government of Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank in 2010.<\/p>\n
Few months ago, Narender Singh Negi, came up with \u00a0his new politically satirical song titled \u2018Loktantra Ma\u2019 (In Democracy) which he calls a \u2018Jangeet\u2019, a people\u2019s song. Following an uproar over large scale corruption in various departments including Uttarakhand state assembly where leaders and bureaucrats distributed jobs to their own nears and dear ones, Narendra Singh Negi, hit out at the political class again.<\/p>\n
In his Garhwali song, he lamented that in the democracy of today, the elected public servants have themselves become \u2018Kings\u2019 and the general public which elected them have become like servants. He further said people of the state who have been cheated by providing jobs to their favourites through back door. He said that people would not let it pass and pay back these political leaders in the coming days.<\/p>\n
