Algae the energy of the future \u2013 Dr. Sourish Bhattacharya<\/p>\n

Dehradun, Aug 25<\/p>\n

Dr. Sourish Bhattacharya, scientist, Central Salt and Marine Chemical Research Institute has said that marine microalgae are not only useful in utilizing waste carbon dioxide but could also become the biggest source of sustainable energy in the future.<\/p>\n

He was part of the expert lecture \u201cSustainable Biofuel from Marine Micro Algae\u201d organized at the Department of Environmental Science, Graphic Era Deemed to be University, along with Head of Department, Environmental Science Dr. Prabha Naithani.<\/p>\n

He discussed in detail the outdoor mass cultivation techniques of microalgae, carbon emission management, and advanced microalgal biodiesel production methods. Dr. Sourish Bhattacharya highlighted the vast potential of algae, stating that microalgae cultivation technology, biofuel production, and naturally floating algae will play a crucial role in sustainable energy development. He added that large-scale outdoor mass cultivation would not only increase production capacity but also help keep the environment clean and safe.<\/p>\n

The program was also attended by Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Dr. Archana Bacheti, Dr. Suman Naithani, along with other faculty members and students.<\/p>\n

National FDP Begins at Graphic Era<\/p>\n

Dehradun, 25 August. A seven-day National Faculty Development Program (FDP) commenced at Graphic Era Deemed to be University. The focus of this FDP will be \u201cAdvanced Analysis of Metal Corrosion.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the first day, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on the complexities of metal corrosion, advanced analytical techniques, and practical solutions. Vice-Chancellor, Graphic Era Deemed to be University Dr. Narpinder Singh, the chief guest of the program, stated that metals are an integral part of human civilization. From the strength of industrial equipment to the reliability of transportation and the life-saving role of medical implants, metals are deeply embedded in every sector. He emphasized that metal corrosion is not only a technical challenge but also a global issue related to human safety and environmental protection. He highlighted the need for advanced technologies and real-time monitoring, noting that the unpredictable nature of metals, climate change impacts, and complexities related to the food industry are serious challenges in this field today.<\/p>\n

The program was conducted by Dr. Gopal Ji Sharma and Dr. Manvendra Kumar Singh.
