Sabhya Negi, a promising all rounder won best bowler title in Women’s Uttarakhand Premier League (WUPL)<\/p>\n

Sabhya Negi, a left arm spinner and a batsman has shown brightly in the recently concluded Women’s Uttarakhand Premier League (WUPL) the largest cricket league in the state of Uttarakhand where she won the best bowler award of the tournament. She was selected in an auction bid by the team \u2018Tehri Titans\u2019 to play in the league.<\/p>\n
In the final match of the WUPL played \u00a0at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Raipur (Dehradun), \u00a0Sabhya played a crucial role in the team’s victory by taking three crucial wickets against \u2018Team Haridwar Storm\u2019. Sabhya, with a total of eight wickets in this major league, won the title of Best Bowler of the tournament.<\/p>\n
Sabhya, daughter of \u00a0Darban Singh Negi, grew up in Pandhara, a small village in Patti Bachansayun, Agastyamuni Block (Rudraprayag), and studied at the RII, Kheda Khal, Rudraprayag, a steep 2 km trek from her village. Sabhya started \u00a0playing cricket with other children.<\/p>\n
Prabhat Singh Pundir , a teacher of Khedakhal inter college noticed her talent and started working on her skills by setting up a cricket net in a small space at the school. \u2018It was a challenge for me to groom her in most challenging circumstances,\u2019 Pundir recalled.<\/p>\n
Sabhya was selected for the national level in the U-19 girls’ category in school sports, but the competition was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After graduating from 12th, due to a lack of resources, Sabhya moved to Dehradun and, through consistent hard work, got selected to play in the prestigious tournament. Currently, Sabhya is working hard at a renowned cricket academy in Dehradun, despite limited resources. Be it family circumstances or financial problems, Sabhya has never let these obstacles come her way of hard work and dedication.<\/p>\n
Jagmohan Singh Rauthan, former Block Head of Mandakini (Rudraprayag), has been supporting her in every possible way, as a family member.<\/p>\n
