Wildlife experts called upon the youth to engage actively in the policy-making processes for wildlife conservation. Speaking at a ceremony organized on the occasion of Wildlife Week at Graphic Era University, the experts emphasized that wildlife is an essential link in the chain of ecological balance and environmental protection.<\/p>\n
Addressing the ceremony as the Chief Guest, Manmohan Singh Negi, a former \u00a0Additional Director General of Forests (Wildlife) and Inspector General of Forests (Forest Conservation), said that wildlife conservation is not a matter of choice but a commitment to the continuity of life on Earth.<\/p>\n
He further stated that the young generation of Dehradun is extremely aware and sensitive towards environmental issues, but there is a need to involve them directly in the system and policy formulation so that their ideas and efforts can take practical shape. Manmohan Singh Negi added that it is important for every section of society to be informed about the role of wildlife officers and the laws related to wildlife conservation, as awareness is the first step towards protection.<\/p>\n
Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University Dr. Narpinder Singh said that India is globally renowned for its unique biodiversity and rich wildlife. Hence, protecting wildlife is both our responsibility and our active contribution to maintaining the balance of nature. Pro Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University Dr. Santosh S. Sarraf mentioned that even small changes in our lifestyle can play a meaningful role in wildlife protection and in preserving ecological harmony.<\/p>\n
Veterinary Officer, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dr. Sanath K. Mulia shared detailed insights on the commendable Cheetah Project through his presentation and highlighted its positive impacts. Research Scientist, Wildlife Institute of India Dr. Ayan Sadhu shared his views on new technologies and innovations in tiger conservation, explaining how modern advancements are bringing transformative changes in their protection and management.<\/p>\n
The event was jointly organized by the Department of Biosciences, Graphic Era Deemed University, in collaboration with the Wildlife Institute of India, the Dehradun Forest Department, and the Uttarakhand Biodiversity Board. On this occasion, HOD of Biosciences,\u00a0 Dr. Manu Pant, along with\u00a0 Dr. V.P. Uniyal, Dr. D.P. Singh, Dr. Ashish Gaur, other faculty members, and students were present. The program was conducted by Ms. Teena Negi.<\/p>\n
