Clarifications on registration of Waqf properties under UMEED Act sought from Centre<\/p>\n

Dehradun, Oct 23<\/p>\n

Khursheed Ahmed Siddique, a social worker associated with Jamait Ulema -e-Hind, a largest organisation off Muslim clerics have written a letter to Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of \u00a0\u00a0Minority Affairs, seeking clarification regarding Re-Registration of Waqf Properties under Section 43 of the UMEED Act( Waqf Amendment Act ), 2025.<\/p>\n

He said that there has been confusion regarding registration of the Waqf properties which are already registered with the respective waqf boards. He said that Chapter five, Clause 43 of the UMEED Act, 2025 states that the Auqaf properties registered before the commencement of this Act deemed to be registered. It further state that<\/p>\n

notwithstanding anything contained in this Chapter, where any waqf has been registered before the commencement of this Act, under any law for the time being in force, it shall not be necessary to register the waqf under the provisions of this Act, and any such registration made before such commencement shall be deemed to be a registration made under this Act.<\/p>\n

Khursheed Ahmed Siddique has sought clarifications in the light of the above provision:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Whether re-registration of auqaf properties already registered with the respective State Waqf Boards (by Gazette Notification of 1986 and subsequently uploaded on the WAMSI Portal) will be required again on the UMEED Portal?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Will these existing details from WAMSI be automatically migrated to the UMEED Portal by Waqf officials, or will the \u2018Muttawalis\u2019 of respective waqfs have to re-register them manually?<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Whether such re-registration of already registered Auqaf properties on the UMEED Portal would be in contravention of the above clause of the UMEED Act, 2025?<\/li>\n
    2. In cases where no Waqf Committee has been constituted or no Muttawali has been appointed, who will be responsible for uploading the correct details of such pre-existing waqfs on the UMEED Portal \u2014 the Waqf officials or any other designated authority?<\/li>\n
    3. How can accurate information be uploaded on the UMEED Portal without conducting a fresh survey of pre-existing waqfs and newly identified waqfs?<\/li>\n
    4. Whether the time presently allotted for registration or verification of waqf properties on the UMEED Portal is sufficient, or whether it would be prudent to extend the timeline to ensure accuracy and transparency in data entry?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Khursheed Ahmed Siddique requested the Union Minister to direct the concerned authorities to examine these aspects in detail for the effective implementation of the Act and for the overall welfare and protection of waqf properties.<\/p>\n
