More than two dozen vibrant villages, situated in Vyans, Darma\u00a0and Johar valleys on the Indo-China border, will be given electricity from the main line of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) as the central government has approved a sum of Rs\u00a0131.44 crore under revamp distribution sector scheme of\u00a0power ministry of union government for the purpose, informed Deen Dayal Singh Pangti, executive engineer of the second working division of UPCL<\/p>\n
Besides the border villages in Johar, Vyans and Darma valley villages, the project will also give benefit to border posts of Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), that are being lit by solar panels till date.<\/p>\n
The ITBP border posts at Bugdiyar, Rilkot, Milan, Dung, Gunji, Kuti, Garbiyang, Nabhidhang, Kalapani, Jolingkong, Tidand, Bidang and Dave will get electricity from main feeder line.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will construct a 33 KV new sub-station with new line, at Gunji in Vyans valley while existing lines will be used in Darma and Johar valleys to provide electricity from main lines,”said the officer.<\/p>\n
The work could be started only from March first week after the snow melts in that area,\u00a0as the villages are snow clad these days. “After these remote villages and ITBP border posts are linked with main electricity line situated in lower valleys, the border region at Indo-China border will lit permanently with\u00a0 hydro power,” said the officer.<\/p>\n
