Awareness campaign for rejuvenation of water resources starts in Pithoragarh<\/p>\n

Spring\u00a0and River Rejuvenation Authority (SARRA), today, organised a river festival at source of River Yaksawati in Tarigaon village near Maddhura hills of the district, to make the people aware towards protecting traditional water resources in the district.<\/p>\n
“In order to give sufficient and pure water for the coming generations we will have to make the people aware about preserving rivers springs sources as a rare gift of the nature,” said Ashish Bhatgai, Pithoragarh District Magistrate and chief guest of the programme.<\/p>\n
The villagers from nearby villages and school children on the occasion took part in various creative and awareness programmes like Padyatra around the villages near the river source and paintings and stage show programme. \u201cThe Yakshawati river is clean at source but becomes impure when proceeds towards its tail,” said a villager on the occasion.<\/p>\n
The Yakshyawati river flows at left side of district headquarter and meets another local river Satrudra, near Saini village and flows towards Dera Deval temple where the joint\u00a0 river meets another rivulet and flows towards Pancheswar.”All three rivulets have their details in \u2018Manas Khand\u2019 of \u2018Sikand Puran\u2019,” said Kalpana Deolal , Mayor of Pithoragarh Municipal Corporation, who had reached there to take part in the festival.<\/p>\n
Bharat Singh, secretary of SARRA project of state government, said that after beginning of the work in the district from November 17, 2023, the SARRA project has taken up 176 springs from 686 Gram panchayats for the renovation work.” We have also taken east Ramganga river for cleaning and renovation under<\/p>\n
\u2018One district, one river\u201d programme under SARRA scheme,” said Bharat Singh.<\/p>\n
