<\/p>\nFirst ever students conference of AIDSO in Uttarakhand calls for saving environment and education on Martyrs\u2019 Day<\/p>\n
Dehradun, March 23<\/p>\n
on the anniversary of martyrdom of \u2018Shaheed-e-Azam\u2019 Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev\u2014a first-ever student conference of the AIDSO (All India Democratic Students Organisation) in Uttarakhand state was held here today.\u00a0 Education and the environment remained the central themes of the conference. The event commenced with cultural programs, followed by the garlanding of the statues of the martyrs.<\/p>\n
In the first session of the conference, eminent environmentalist Dr. Ravi Chopra, in his keynote address presented a detailed overview of the environmental landscape of the entire state. He stated that corporate houses are increasingly encroaching upon water, forests, and land resources and their uncontrolled exploitation is endangering public life. He emphasized that there is an urgent need to unite in the fight to protect our natural resources.<\/p>\n
Shiv Prasad Semwal, a former Additional Director of Secondary Education (Kumaon Division), addressed the issue of education, noting that there has been a continuous decline in educational standards. He asserted that it is imperative to strengthen the movement against the privatization, communalization, and commercialization of education.<\/p>\n

Shruti Shivhare, Joint Secretary of the AIDSO Central Council, highlighted the contributions of Bhagat Singh and Jyotiba Phule while discussing the detrimental consequences of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. She also issued a call for unity against the policy of shutting down government schools.<\/p>\n
During the conference, resolutions regarding education and the environment were passed. These resolutions called for an immediate halt to the exploitation of natural resources, a ban on the privatization, commercialization, and communalization of education, and a commitment to making every possible effort to protect both education and the environment.<\/p>\n
In the second session of the conference, the first State Committee of AIDSO was constituted. This 21-member committee comprises Kuldeep as President, Monika Chauhan as Vice President, Ranjana as Secretary, Ajay as Treasurer, and Himani as Office Secretary. The conference was presided over by Reshma Panwar.<\/p>\n
Attendees at the conference included former MP from Bengal Dr. Tarun Mondal, former Vice President of the AIDSO Central Council Dr. Mukesh Semwal, and AIDSO Central Council Office Secretary Prashant Kumar, alongside numerous local citizens and students.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
