Preparations for \u2018Adi Kailash yatra\u2019 which is slated to start from May 1, this year, have been speeded up and SDM, Dharchula has instructed all the concerned departments to get their part of work completed before the scheduled date. “While general \u2018Adi Kailash yatra\u2019 is to begin from May 1, the nodal agency Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) is beginning it from May 8,” said the SDM.<\/p>\n
According to KMVN sources at Dharchula, it was decided in KMVN video conference meeting today that the \u2018Adi Kailash yatra\u2019 hosted by Nigam will start from May 8 this year and over 15 batches of pilgrims will go up to July 1. In the first phase of \u2018Adi Kailash yatra\u2019.<\/p>\n
” Over 70 pilgrims from as cross the country have already booked for yatra till date,” said Dhan Singh, in charge of base camp of yatra at Dharchula, who also attended the video conference participated by Nigam GM, VN Shukla from Nainital.<\/p>\n
SDM Dharchula has taken a separate meeting of officials concerned in Dharchula today concerning the preparation of yatra. “In the meeting of concerned departments to run general yatra from May 1, this year, we have sought cooperation from all concerned departments including ,para military forces like SSB, ITBP and road maintaining agency BRO, local taxi owners and Homestay facility\u00a0 owners at high altitude region,” said Ashish Joshi, SDM, Dharchula.<\/p>\n
According to the SDM, though the\u00a0smooth running of \u2018Adi Kailash yatra\u2019 depends on weather situation of higher Himalayan\u00a0 region, the administration is expecting yatra from May 1, as the weather at present is better.”I,ve visited the region recently and find smooth and snowless roads at Gunji to Jolingkong and Gunji to Nabhidhang region,” said the SDM.<\/p>\n
The \u2018Adi Kailash\u2019 pilgrims besides visiting \u2018Adi Kailash\u2019 peak, temple and \u2018Parwati Sarowar\u2019 in Jolingkong area, will also visit \u2018Om Parvat\u2019 near Nabhidhang.<\/p>\n
According to the SDM, some patches on the road from Dharchula to Gunji need repairing and BRO officials have been told of do the needful. “We have also instructed to update and lodging facilities in Homs stays at higher region as well as to have registration of new home stay facilities that have been constructed recently,” said the SDM.<\/p>\n
\u2018Adi Kailash yatra\u2019, that began simultaneously with Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from 1981, got boost in October 2023 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the region. ” That visit of the Prime Minister boosted the number of pilgrims from mere 2000 each year from 1981 jumped to the number, 19567 in 2024 and more than 31000\u00a0 in 2025,” said the SDM, Dharchula.<\/p>\n
