Even after distribution of a sum of Rs 3.07 crore to 75 disaster affected families of the district for rehabilitation, several families are still waiting the funds as due to several reasons, their rehabilitation money is still trapped in government’s files.<\/p>\n
According to Pithoragarh District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO),\u00a0a total of 627 families has been given first instalment for rehabilitation while over 300 families have been given second and final amount to construct their rehabilitation shelters in Dharchula, Bangapani, Munsiyari, Kanaluchina and\u00a0 Pithoragarh sub-divisions till date.<\/p>\n
Over 54 villagers of Chalma Chilaso village of Dharchula sub-division expressed rejoice last week when they received second instalment of\u00a0 shelter amount after waiting it since 2017 when their village was highly affected by natural disaster.<\/p>\n
“We have still families of disaster affected wanting to rehabilitate in Jipti, Dar, Bona and Malupati villages of Dharchula and Munsiyari sub-divisions, as the process to give them rehabilitation amount is going through various stages,” said Bhupendra Singh Mahar, District Disaster Management Officer of Pithoragarh.<\/p>\n
According to Munsiyari Tehsildar Ashish Rautela, the process of rehabilitation of over 50 families of Bona, Golfa,\u00a0 Serasuraidhar, Dhapa, Reetha and Kultham is under process at different stages “Whereas some has not utilised their first instalment, some others have wait to for geological survey report of the land they have chosen to construct new shelters,” said Tehsildar of Munsiyari.<\/p>\n
According to DDMO, the resettlement amount could not be granted to them who have either not started constructing their shelters despite getting first instalment or constructing shelters at other places then granted by the government, “said the DDMO.<\/p>\n
“The government is not only granting land to construct shelter but also giving a sum of\u00a0 more than 4 lakh rupees for house construction and Rs 1, lakh for land to those, who need to purchase land to construct their homes,” said the DDMO.<\/p>\n
