A three days\u2019 \u2018Nature festival\u2019, to make people aware of the surrounding wild life rich bodies and sanctuaries, which started on April 22 being organised in high elevation part of Askot wildlife sanctuary in Pithoragarh. will conclude on April 25.<\/p>\n
The festival is being organised jointly by District Forest Officer ( DFO), Pithoragarh and \u2018Wings Foundation\u2019, an organisation working towards preservation of rare and depleting Himalayan butterflies.<\/p>\n
“The festival aims at preservation of local Himalayan butterflies, insects and fauna like rare Musk deer, Snow leopard and state bird Monal, besides spreading awareness amongst local villagers regarding preservation of endangered Himalayan ecology and bio-diversity.” said Aashutosh Singh, DFO, Pithoragarh.<\/p>\n
Jagdish Bhatt, director of \u2018Wings Foundation\u2019 said that the short festival aims at preservation of high Himalayan flora and fauna that is depleting rapidly due to indifference of locals towards this natural asset of Himalayan.<\/p>\n
” A total of 24 participants from across the country are participating in this festival and are happy to view rare Himalayan flora, fauna and weather.
