Due to inclement weather conditions in higher Himalayan region in the district, the \u2018Adi Kailash\u2019 pilgrimage was stopped at Dharchula base camp as 20 mm rains, hailstones and winds with 60 km per hour speed disturbed the normal life.<\/p>\n
“We have stopped batch of 36 pilgrims, at base camp Dharchula as the weather is not conducive for yatra,” said Ashish Joshi, SDM, Dharchula.<\/p>\n
The process of issuing of new inner line passes will be resumed only after the weather gets normal.” Out of over 1700 inner line passes, we have issued till today, the pilgrims who had reached at higher camps, are being kept safely,”said the SDM.<\/p>\n
The rain accompanied with thunder, resulted into falling of tall trees at several places in the district resulting into closure of several village roads, according to the office of Pithoragarh District Disaster Management .<\/p>\n
“The rains accompanied with thunderstorm resulted in the closure of several roads including Pithoragarh to Tanakpur road at Ghat leading to traffic jam for hours,” said Bhupendra Mahar, District Disaster Management Officer of Pithoragarh.<\/p>\n
“The trees fell at Chaukori, Gurna, Bagartoli Didihat and Gangolihat but no damage to any life or property was reported as police and SDRF responded quickly to open the roads,” said Mahar<\/p>\n
According to administration sources ,two domesticated animals were killed as lightening struck in Rawalgaon village near the town.<\/p>\n
However, electricity supply remained disturbed due to winds and rains causing in convenience to small businesses.<\/p>\n
The information from Lohaghat, Pati and Champawat blocks in Champawat district said that while several roofs of cowsheds were blown\u00a0due to stormy winds, as hailstones caused heavy losses to crops of seasonal vegetables.” My fruits of peas,apple, kivi besides vegetables of cabbage were damaged in over 5 hectare area due to hailstones,” said Ramesh Kharkwal, a farmer\u00a0 in Khaiskande village of Champawat district.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
