Pithoragarh, May 18<\/p>\n

on the occasion of it’s foundation\u00a0day on May 18, today,\u00a0Rung Kalyan Sansthan, a cultural organisation of Rung tribal community traditionally inhabitants of\u00a0high Himalayan region of Dharchula sub-division of Pithoragarh district held a special training session of wearing\u00a0 traditional Rung attires for its\u2019 youth.<\/p>\n

” To protect and promote Rung tribal culture of Himalayas, we are celebrating the day and holding programmes to make our new generation aware about adopting our identity in shape of language, attire and traditions,” said Krishna Garbiyal, former chairperson of the Sanstha.<\/p>\n

“We felt need of this session as our new generation is not well versed in wearing their traditional dresses as this needs special methodology and technique,” said Prakash Singh Gunjiyal, chairperson of Rung Kalyan Sanstha.<\/p>\n

The Rung community specially thanked Nrip Singh Napalchyal, a former chief information commissioner and former Chief Secretary of the state, for his contribution in strengthening the organisation. “It is with his blessing that our new generation is also being made aware of our traditional values,” said Prakash Singh Gunjiyal, the chairperson.<\/p>\n

Several other programmes to make the new Rung generation aware towards their culture were also discussed by gathering at Dharchula today.<\/p>\n

“During a day training session of methods of\u00a0wearing our traditional male dresses for our youths, like \u2018Vyathalo\u2019, \u2018Chilm\u2019 and \u2018Ranga\u2019,(traditional turban, and long coat) and we also taught the women of community, how to wear, \u2018Chyung\u2019, the upper dresses of women and \u2018Bala\u2019, lower wearing dress of Rung\u00a0 women,” said Maharaj Garbiyal, trainer of the session.<\/p>\n

“Our expert also taught women on how to wear, \u2018Bakcho\u2019 ( traditional woollen shoe), \u2018Bakchyo jyang\u2019(Shoe laces),\u2019Jyung jyang\u2019(the cloth wore on the waist) \u2018Raklacha\u2019( the cloth wore on arm), \u2018Chyukti\u2019 ( traditional Rung cap), \u2018Bluodhang\u2019(Garland of silver coins, traditionally worn by women in Rung community), \u2018Jyuri\u2019,( garlands made of red coral beads), \u2018Beera\u2019 (nose ring and Bali, the traditional ornament wore by tribal women on their head),” explained Maharaj Garbiyal, the trainer.<\/p>\n
