Over 3000 villagers of 7 villages of Mandakini river valley in Bangapani sub-division of Pithoragarh district are compelled to cross zigzag hill slopes manually risking lives, as the lone trolley installed by PWD on river Mandakini, has stopped following a technical fault.<\/p>\n
“We are facing double trouble these days in reaching our market place and schools as not only the trolley has stopped but the track route ahead of trolley has also got damaged due to rains, “said Ganesh Singh, gram pradhan of Ringu village.<\/p>\n
The daily life of, Gaila, Pattarkot, Tomik, Rapti, Sana, Ringu and Chulkot\u00a0villages has been affected as the villagers have to take a 20 km circle to reach the schools or market places.”We have several times in past requested the concerned department to repair the trolley but got no response,” said Bhawna Danu, a zila panchayat member from the area.<\/p>\n
Ajay Thapliyal, executive engineer of PWD in Didihat division said that they have repaired the said trolley last year but it has again got damaged.” After submitting an estimate for it’s repair, we have sought budget to repair it, on getting the budget for repair of trolley, we will repair it,” said the PWD Executive Engineer.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, an average of 12 mm rains in last\u00a0 24 hours, with 35 mm maximum in Bangapani area of Dharchula, resulted into closure of 16 roads including 13 village roads 2 border and one NH. DDMO office sources said.<\/p>\n
“The traffic remained closed in all these roads for hours as the main border road from Dharchula to Yawaghat and Yawaghat to Gunji also remained closed for eight hours, today,\u201d said Bhupendra Singh Mahar, District Disaster Management Officer, Pithoragarh.<\/p>\n
The water levels of main rivers ,namely \u00a0Kali Gori has been rising as measured today morning. According to information received from Champawat district information officer, the\u00a0 water level of river Sharda at Banbasa barrage has also risen seen as Banbasa barrage witnessed a total of 123576 cusec of water of water, as measured this morning.<\/p>\n
