GST reforms are foundation of the country’s economic transformation

Dehradun, March 13

An international conference on GST reforms and their impacts has started at Graphic Era University, here today, where experts from India and abroad are discussing GST reforms, economic development and their effects on society.

A two-day international conference on the social and economic impacts of GST reforms began today at Graphic Era Deemed University. Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the conference, Vice Chancellor Dr. Narpinder Singh said that GST is an important reform towards making India’s tax system simple, transparent and unified. He said that GST has provided a platform for farmers, producers and artisans to connect directly with wholesalers and buyers. Dr. Singh urged the youth to understand economic policies and contribute to the country’s development through innovation and entrepreneurship.

Officials of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) said that with the introduction of GST, the duplication of taxes has reduced and trade has gained new momentum. They said that GST is an important step towards economic development and building a strong national market in the country.

A total of 12 technical sessions will be held during this two-day international conference. These sessions will include discussions on topics such as green taxation, the impact of GST on small businesses, indirect tax reforms, MSME compliance, GST-driven revenue models and the changes in consumer behaviour due to digitalization. In this international conference, scientists, researchers and experts from four countries and ten states will present their research papers and solutions.

The programme was jointly organized by the Graphic Era Deemed University’s School of Management of and the Indian Council of Social Science Research. The event was attended by Head of the Management Department Dr. Ajay Kumar Pandey, founder of Infinit Dr. Ritesh Jain, Dr. Rajendra Baikady of Kerala University, Dr. Vinay Kandpal, Dr. M. P. Singh, along with other teachers and students. The programme was conducted by Prabhu Mathur and Kirti Uday.
