Slow start to ‘Adi Kailash yatra’

No inner line passes for ‘Adi Kailash yatra’, could be issued in the first two days, after opening the registration of the online site on April 28th as no one has applied, SDM Dharchula Ashish Joshi said.

The gates of ‘Shiv Parwati’ temple at ‘Adi Kailash’ are scheduled to open from May 1, for yatra season this year. The administration had announced to begin process of issuing inner line permits for pilgrims online from April 28.

” The applications are accepted by online only but no pilgrim has applied for the inner line permit in the first two days,” said the SDM.

“This yatra is not like the ‘Char Dham yatra’ of Garhwal region, unlike it slowly picks up pace as only 10 or 15 persons per day go there till the summer vacations begin in the schools after May 25,” said Joshi.

“In order to check the basic preparations for yatra, the Pithoragarh District Magistrate has a day before visited Dharchula and found the preparations for yatra satisfactory,” claimed the SDM

Mostly been visited by local tribal devotees along with a selected pilgrims from different part of country, the ‘Adi Kailash yatra’ sudden got boost in number of pilgrims after the Prime Minister Modi visited it in October 2023. More than 35000 pilgrims have visited the sacred place of ‘Adi Kailash’ and ‘Om Parvat’ last year.

Pithoragarh ADM, Yogendra Singh on April 26, had visited Gunji camp to take stock of preparation for yatra, with the team of concerned officials and  instructed the officers to take time bound preparation for  lodging, meals, water, tented colonies, health, ambulance, communication and security on the ‘Adi Kailash yatra’ route
