Air services to resume from first week of Feb, CM Dhami to inaugurate resumption tomorrow

Civilian air services from Naini- Saini airport of Pithoragarh will be resumed from first week of February this year. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is likely to visit Pithoragarh to inaugurate the resumption of air services, Pithoragarh District Magistrate Reena Joshi said.

” I visited the air strip to Inspect the preparation for the probable visit of Chief Minister to inaugurate the resumption of air services from here on January 30,2024,” said the DM.

“The aircraft of the concerned company has completed trial landing and take-off  at the airstrip on Sunday successfully. The resumption of flights could be possible after successful trials,” said Pithoragarh DM.

According to the probable schedule, a 19 seater aircraft will initially fly between Dehradun -Pantnagar and Pithoragarh.” The schedule could be extended to Hindon airport Gaziabad on demand and availability of passengers,” said an administrative officer in Pithoragarh.

The Naini- Saini airstrip, that was inaugurated in 1994, witnessed start of civil air services from here between October 2019 to March 2020, when a 9 seater aircraft of Heritage aviation flew between PIthoragarh and Dehradun via Pantnagar. The service ended in March 2020 after the aircraft developed a technical snag mid year while on a flight from Pantnagar to Pithoragarh in March 2020.”Several attempts were made to the resume the air service but it could not be started,” said Pawan Joshi, a trader union leader in Pithoragarh.

BJP Pithoragarh district chief Girish Joshi said that the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will reach Pithoragarh on January 30th to inaugurate resumption of air services from Pithoragarh from February 2, 2024.” The Chief Minister will land at 10.20 am and  after inaugurating air services from here, will return back to Dehradun after 90 minutes,” said Girish Joshi, BJP district chief Pithoragarh.
