UPCL committed to provide smooth power supply to pilgrimage and tourist places during winters

To supplement the efforts of the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to promote winter tourism sector of Uttarakhand by providing better facilities to the visiting pilgrims / tourists, Uttarakhand Power Corporation limited (UPCL) has committed itself to provide uninterrupted power supply to tourist/pilgrimage places of the state .
Anil Kumar Yadav, Managing Director of the UPCL has issued necessary guidelines to all the regional units to ensure smooth power supply to the main pilgrimage and tourist places in the state during winter such as Mussoorie, Auli, Lansdowne, Joshimath, Dhanaulti, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Chamoli, Chakrata, Rajaji National Park, Tehri, Devprayag, Chamba and Harshil as well as the winter pilgrimage places of the four Dhams.
The Managing Director informed that in the winter season, the movement of tourists from the country and abroad to the main pilgrimage and tourist places in the state of Uttarakhand would not only promote tourism but generates employment. In view of this, UPCL is monitoring the condition of all substations, HT/LT lines and street lights related to the tourist places on a daily basis so that the tourists do not have to face any kind of electricity related problem and for emergency situations, the arrangement of materials such as conductors, cables, poles, transformers are also being ensured at all the places so that in case of power disruption, power supply can be restored in minimum time. All the Superintending Engineers/Executive Engineers have also been directed to inspect the 33/11 KV substations and 11 KV feeders under their jurisdictional areas and to be present in high alert mode. Apart from this, for better power supply, instructions have also been given to get the lopping-chopping of trees and branches coming in between the lines done on time and to ensure that all trolley converters are in working condition and are available for any contingency.
