Kumoan police proposal to instal CCTV cameras in entire region

Pithoragarh, April 9

Ridhim Aggarwal, Inspector General of Police (IG), Kumaon region said here today that a proposal worth Rs 50 crore to install CCTV cameras at all the sensitive places of Kumaon region has been sent to the administration.

“To make effective and people-oriented policing, we need to use modern technology in every system of police to check the crimes quickly and effectively,” said the IG.

Briefing media persons during her visit to the district, the IG said that the cameras will be installed at places prone to accidents, crime against women and drug peddler’s points in entire region. “If approved, this move will help minimising crimes against women, reducing vehicle accidents and controlling activities of drug mafia at sensitive points of the region,” claimed the IG.

Answering a question on criminals entering the district from across Nepal, the IG said that to check infiltration of criminals, the police will increase its patrolling in cooperation with SSB, the border guarding force deputed at Indo- Nepal border.

The IG, took stock of all police stations and police posts in the district and instructed police personnels to create confidence amongst the common man that police is their friend and working to make the society safe from crimes. “Only by befriending common people, we can achieve our aims of good policing,” said  the IG.
