Amit Gupta awarded PhD for developing techniques to detecting credit card frauds

Amit Gupta, a faculty member of Computer Science and Engineering Department of Graphic Era Hill University has been awarded a Phd degree for developing techniques that detect and classify credit card frauds.

Amit Gupta conducted his research on an efficient Artificial Intelligence (AI) Model for detection and classification of credit card frauds. He completed his research under the guidance of Deputy Director, Graphic Era Hill University, Bhimtal Campus Dr. M.C. Lohani and Dr. Mahesh Manchanda, faculty member of Computer Science Engineering Department Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun Campus.

By meticulously studying more than 80,000 transactions done through various credit cards, Amit has developed a technology through which any bank will be able to immediately detect whether the credit card transactions are fraudulent or non fraudulent. This technology can be used only after the transaction has been completed . However, it will assist banks in receiving the information about credit card fraud immediately. The hybrid convolution neutral network technology developed by Amit will also help banks in detecting fraud and enhancing the financial security of users.

Dr. Zubair Khan of Computer Science and Information Technology of Taibah University, Saudi Arabia was the external expert. Graphic Era Hill University’s Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. R. Gauri, Dr. Neeraj Dhiman, Dr. Satvik Vats, Dr. Vikrant Sharma, Dr. Prateek Srivastava and Dr. Raj Kishore Bisht were also present in the thesis presentation.
