On the occasion of National Youth Day, an awareness workshop was organized at Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) Jolly Grant on various topics related to youth including drug abuse, road safety and cyber crime. Various speakers called upon the youth to take inspiration from the life of Swami Vivekananda.
An awareness workshop was organized by the Rural Development Institute (RDI), Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust (HIHT) in the Adi Kailash Auditorium of the University.
The workshop was inaugurated with the lighting of the traditional the lamp in front of the portrait of founder Dr. Swami Rama while the students of Government Sanskrit Bharat Mandir Secondary School chanted mantras.
Dr. Sanjeev Chopra, former IAS and former Director of Lal Bahadur Shastri Academy of Administration, Mussoorie who was the chief guest of the function, said that even in the present times, the principles and teachings of Swami Vivekananda are as relevant as they were in the past. He appealed to the youth to be part of the movement against drugs.
HIHT Presidential Committee member Dr. Vijendra Chauhan said that increased awareness was needed due to threat of increasing inclination of youth towards drugs, threat of cyber crime and rise in the number of road accidents over the years. Dr. Jayanti Semwal gave a talk on drug abuse, Circle Officer, Rishikesh Anwar Khan informed about road accidents while Sumit Chaudhary police post incharge, Jolly Grant talked about cyber crime.Joint Director Secondary Education Dr. Anand Bhardwaj gave a detailed presentation on drug abuse, cyber crime and road accidents and the contribution of the department in tackling these problems.
Students of Aryan Group at Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), Jolly Grant conveyed the message of protection against drugs, cyber crime and road accidents through a drama. Dr. Rajiv Bijlwan, Vikesh Semwal, Payal Bhatt, Nagma, Kamal Joshi, Pawandeep, Nirmala Bijlwan, Digvijay, Jyoti Sharma, DP Uniyal, Naresh Thapliyal, Vivek Anand were instrumental in organizing the program under the leadership of Dr. Neha Sharma and Dr. Nancy Barthwal, Pankaj, Naval and others.
