B.D.Kasniyal Pithoragarh, Jan 3 The symbolic torch (Mashal) of 38th National games, scheduled to be held in Uttarakhand from January 28th to February 14th, reached Gunji village at 10000 feet high welcomed by army,ITBP and SSB jawans
“The torch of National games, to be hosted by Uttarakhand state this year, reached Pithoragarh district on January 1, and welcomed by administration and sports officers besides lovers of games in Pithoragarh stadium and DS bisht ground, was sent off to Dharchula on its way to Gunji with the intention of involving people even from interior parts of state,.”said KL Tamta, district information officer of pithoragarh, who accompanied the Mashal to Gunji and return journey.
According to the information officer, the national games torch was welcomed at Gunji by army jawans of J&K Rifles, ITBP and SSB jawans.” There was huge enthusiasm amongst army and para military jawans while welcoming the torch,”said the information officer
According to Tamta, the boxing events of national games is scheduled to be held at Pithoragarh and these events will be organised at Lelu stadium of sports directorate.”the decision to host boxing events in Pithoragarh has been taken by organisers keeping in mind the excellent records of sportspersons of district in Boxing, “said Tamta.
