BJP well prepared, Cong facing infighting in Uttarakhand civic polls

B.D.Kasniyal                                 Pithoragarh,  Jan 1                                     The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttarakhand has prepared well by replacing all of it’s sitting Mayors to beat the anti incumbency factor while the main opposition Congress has been plagued with  war. There has been open rebellion by none other than a party legislator who vowed to fight against authorised party candidate and a party vice-president coming out openly against party leadership.                                 Mathura Datt Joshi, Congress vice president (Orgnisation) at party headquarters Dehradun who has threatened to quit has now put two conditions before party state president to resume the work at party headquarter. Joshi has challenged Congress state and Delhi high command to take action against pithoragarh MLA Mayukh Mahar for laters support to a rebel Congress candidate for mayors post in Pithoragarh Nagar Nigam.
“Untill party will not take disciplinary action against Congress MLA Mayukh Mahar for his support to a candidate against the party official candidate in from pithoragarh Anju Lunthi, who is also district Congress president, .”said Joshi.
Interestingly, Mathura Datt Joshi had also sought ticket for his wife Rukmani joshi,   for the post of Mayor in recently upgraded pithoragarh Nagar Nigam but had to face disappointment as the Congress ticket was awarded to Anju Lunthi, district Congress president pithoragarh.
State Congress president Karan Mahra has said that the decision on ticket was taken by party high command from Delhi.”the panel of names was prepared by Joshi himself putting name of his wife as first priority but decision was taken by party officials in Delhi, there is no reason to blame state leaders.”said Mahra.
Meanwhile Mayukh Mahar, Congress MLA from pithoragarh has cautioned party candidate Anju Lunthi against using his name in election posters.”we have sent a letter to district election officer informing him to consider it illegal to use my name in election posters.”said Mahar.
Monika Mahar, wife of  national secretary of youth Congress, had already filed her nomination papers with the blessing of party MLA from pithoragarh and today asserted not to withdraw name in favor of party’s official candidate.” We have started the campaign and people are with us as popular party MLA Mayukh Mahar is supporting us.”said Rishendra Singh Mahar, youth Congress national secretary and husband of Monika Mahar, the Congress rebel candidate. He is nephew of Mayukh Mahar, the Congress MLA from pithoragarh.
