Dr. Narpinder Singh elected fellow of UNESCO’s TWAS

The Vice Chancellor of  Graphic Era Deemed University, Dr. Narpinder Singh has been elected a Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) under UNESCO. This honour has been conferred in recognition of his outstanding contributions to science and technology, and his efforts in advancing scientific research in developing countries.

TWAS is an international science academy that aims to promote scientific research, foster collaboration, and build scientific capacity in developing nations. It recognizes scientists who, despite limited resources, have contributed to the progress of society through their research and innovation.

Over the past three decades, Dr. Narpinder Singh has made significant contributions in the fields of food chemistry, cereal science, and biopolymer research. His studies have provided new insights into the structure and industrial applications of starches, dietary fibers, and functional food components. Recently, he was ranked No. 1 in India in the categories of Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry and Food Science, and is also listed among the top 50 scientists globally in these fields.

Expressing his thoughts on this achievement, Dr. Narpinder Singh said that being elected as a TWAS Fellow is a moment of great pride and honour for him. He dedicated this recognition to the commitment, support, and consistent efforts of his students, research collaborators, and colleagues. Dr. Singh added that this international honour symbolizes the relevance of his research and scientific approach, and it will further strengthen his resolve to promote science and technology for the progress of developing nations.
