Time limit of transit passes to Nepalese villagers increased

The Pithoragarh district administration has increased time limit of transit passes issued to Nepalese citizen, from October 30 till November 30 this year as due to some reasons, the villagers of Migrating villages of Dharchula of Nepal, could not reach at border to cross over to their winter villages via restricted Indian territory.

The transit passes are given to Nepalese citizens of Tinkar and Changru villages of high- altitude region of Nepal who migrate to their winter homes via Sita pul situated at notified Indian territory of Garbiyang as there is no Nepalese motor road to these villages of Nepal.

“This decision has been taken on the request of Nepalese administration of Darchula, district of Nepal,” said Jitendra Verma, SDM of Dharchula.

“We have till date issued 2690 transit passes to Nepalese citizens of these 2 villages of Tinkar and Changru to facilitate their transit to their winter villages via restricted Indian territory,” said the SDM.

The Dharchula administration issues inner line permits to Indian citizens who want to reach higher region beyond Chiyalekh point, while Nepalese citizens are issued transit permits, to use  restricted Indian territory to reach their winter homes  traditionally.
