HNB Garhwal University to start a centre to prepare SC/ST students for civil services

Srinagar (Garhwal). January 1

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Srinagar (Garhwal) and the Uttarakhand Social Welfare Department to start a centre to prepare students belonging  to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribe communities for civil services examinations.

Under this agreement, students from Scheduled Castes and Tribes will be prepared for the All India Civil Service Examination. Prof. Rakesh Dhodi, Registrar and District Social Welfare Officer Rohit Singh, signed the MoU. With the support of the state government, Scheduled Castes and Tribes students will now receive special benefits in civil service examinations. Professor M.M. Semwal, Senior Professor is the coordinator of this initiative.

Prof. Rakesh Dhodi, Registrar stated that the University will fully cooperate in the construction of a hostel with a capacity of 80 students to effectively implement this initiative of the Uttarakhand government. Land has already been identified for this purpose on the Chauras campus. Currently, rooms have been arranged to run this scheme near Vikas Bhawan in Chauras campus.

At present, an amount of Rs. 42,65000/- (forty-two lakh sixty-five thousand) has been allocated to the university to run this scheme. During the MoU between the Social Welfare Department and the University, Prof. Shriprakash Singh, Vice Chancellor, HNBGU; Prof. M.S. Panwar, Dean, Recruitment and Promotion; Prof. M.M. Semwal, Chief Student Advisor; Mr. Rohit Singh, District Social Welfare Officer were present.
