Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who was supposed to start his two-day tour of Uttarakhand state from Almora to kick start his party’s campaign for forthcoming assembly elections could not make it due to inclement weather conditions. He has to return back from Panntnagar where he landed enroute to Almora where he was supposed to address a public meeting.

However, he addressed the meeting remotely through his Mobile phone. He charged that the very vision of Uttarakhand state that was envisioned at the time of its formation, has been badly shattered by the present state government of BJP as the state is being run from Delhi.

Addressing a large gathering of Congress supporters at Simkani ground via mobile phone, Rahul Gandhi said the central government, that is running the state from Delhi is involved in looting the natural resources of the state. “Narendra Modi and Amit Shah team has destroyed the economic base of the country that was formed by Congress party keeping the empowerment of common man in mind.” While the demonetisation snatched the money you have kept in homes for emergency expenditures, the GST has finished the small businesses of the country,” alleged Rahul Gandhi.
He further charged the Modi government of destroying the agriculture and education base of the country and alleged that the foreign policy of the country has been kept bondage to USA. “Whereas the current war between America and Iran is making hitting the economy of the, the Modi government is busy working for the vested interests of America and top businessmen of the country,” said Rahul.

Regarding the Dhami government of Uttarakhand, he said that it was not working in the very interests of the state. “It is the government that is not working towards your needs and future interests, “said the Congress leader.

The state general secretary incharge of Congress party, Kumari Shailaja informed the audience about the inability of Rahul to reach Almora due to weather conditions. Rahul Gandhi was scheduled to go to Pauri Garhwal to meet ex-servicemen and then proceed to Kotdwar to meet ‘Mohammed Deepak’, who had saved an old Muslim shopkeeper in January and was a target of ‘Hindutva’ forces. He was to spent night at Mussoorie and then coming to Dehradun to meet a group of environmentalists on June 5 before going back. But, he has to return back to New Delhi from Pantnagar.
