All year round ‘Adi Kailash yatra’ in the offing

Pithoragarh district administration has started preparation to hold ‘Adi Kailash yatra’ all round the year as per the wishes of the state Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
“We today held meeting of departments involved in ‘Adi Kailash yatra’ and ordered them to speed up preparation to give facilities of road, drinking water, electricity, communication health and transport to pilgrims all round the year,” said Ashish Bhatgai. District Magistrate, Pithoragarh.
According to the DM, the chief minister wanted that except in the cases of adverse weather conditions or any emergency, the ‘Adi Kailash yatra’ should continue in all the months of the year.” If continued all over the year, the Adi Kailash yatra will increase not only homestay tourism but other businesses, local handicrafts and transport activities in border region,” said the DM.
The District Magistrate said that after the Prime Minister’s visit in 2023, the number of ‘Adi Kailash’ pilgrims increased to 17402 in 2024, 125277 in 2025 and at 76930 up to June last in first phase this year. “We are expecting to increase it up to 1.50 lakh in second phase, till last of this year,” claimed the DM.
