Bank guard sentenced to life for burning his manager alive

The Special Sessions Judge of Pithoragarh sentenced a former State Bank of India (SBI) guard for life along with a fine of Rs 40 thousand for burning his bank branch manager alive on May 6, 2023
“The court has sentenced Deepak Chettri, the accused guard to life imprisonment for burning the victim alive besides a fine of Rs 40 thousands under section 302 IPC and 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10 thousands under section 436 of IPC,”said Pramod Pant, government counsel.
The incident happened on May 6, 2023 when the bank guard suddenly poured petrol and lit Mohammed Aawesh, the bank manager after some dispute with him. The badly burnt manager was first taken to higher center for treatment and then referred to Delhi where he succumbed to his burn injuries on May 16, 2023.” The prosecution presented statements of 15 witnessed and CCTV footage, petrol bottle and burnt material inside the bank branch, to pursue the case, “said the prosecution counsel.
