 85 missing persons reunited with their families

Police in Pithoragarh have succeeded in tracing and reuniting 85 missing persons with their families out of 89 persons reported missing between January 1 and September 10 this year, Circle Officer Govind Ballabh Joshi said.

“Our Anti-Human Trafficking Unit is making every effort to trace the remaining missing persons from the district,” Joshi said.

According to Joshi, after family members failed to trace their relatives, they lodged missing-person reports with the police. The police subsequently formed teams and used surveillance and other modern techniques to trace their locations in different states, including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Gujarat and Punjab.

“After completing the required legal formalities, we handed over all the traced missing persons to their respective families. Among those reunited with their families were 48 women and 10 minor girls,” the Circle Officer said.
