Four survey workers stranded near Milam after heavy snowfall

Pithoragarh, Sept 30 Four persons engaged in survey work for the proposed Milam–Topidhunga road along the India-China border have been stranded at Old Dhung since September 25 following heavy snowfall in the region.
Lavraj Singh Pangti, Range Officer of the Munsiyari Range in Pithoragarh Forest Division, said the four persons were stranded at a location about 74 km from Munsiyari and 9 km from Milam village in the Johar Valley.
“All the stranded workers are safe. The Army post in the area is taking care of them,” Pangti said.
The team, which had gone for a joint survey of the proposed road, comprised one official each from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and the Forest Department, along with two porters, he said.
According to sources, the route to the location was blocked by heavy snowfall on September 25. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is working to clear the route, which is likely to be reopened within the next 24 hours.
